10 scriptures to wage war with

Notes from Ps Jeremiah Johnson's sharing on Sept 26, 2023 [How to wage war with Scriptures)

God is drawing His people in this hour who feel the tension the urgency of the hour - the global shaking economically and politically.

This is not an hour to fear; it's not even an hour to get discouraged. But there is this sense of “it's time to get sober, it's time to get alert; it's time to engage in the battle”.

We don't war according to the flesh; our battle is not against flesh and blood. Our battles are against principalities and powers/rulers in the dark world (Ephesians 6).

We need to pray God’s Word, not out of our emotions or our own desires. Pull these 10 scriptures out and meditate on them and memorise them and go to war with them in Jesus’ name.

10 scriptures to pray with

1) Luke 10:19

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Jesus says behold I've given you authority over the demonic realm. Do you believe that?

2) 2 Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Sometimes when satan is raging and things are crumbling all around us, it's easy to believe that God has forgotten about us and that we're not important.

But this verse reminds us that God is faithful and He will strengthen us and protect us from the evil one.

3) 1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let's thank God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ. We're not fighting for victory; we're fighting from the place of victory and our victory comes through the cross and the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

4) Romans 8:37

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Sometimes our mind wars against us, and we want to magnify our problems or our diagnosis; but life and power and strength come from the Word of God.

5) 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

How we war, full of faith, and how we war, full of agreement with God's Word, is we don't war in the flesh and we recognise that we have to take captive thoughts of unbelief, thoughts of doubt. Do not pray out of fear, unbelief or worry.

We need to be praying the word of God. We need to take captive every thought; we need to be praying and dismantling demonic ideologies and thoughts that set themselves up against the knowledge of God.

6) Matthew 18:18-19

“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

Come away from praying your fears; come away from praying out of unbelief and doubt; and come into agreement with the power that's in the word of God. Let it wash your mind; let it renew your thoughts.

That's what God is doing - he's right there in the midst of us wanting to answer our prayers. We

just come into agreement in Jesus’ name for victory.

7) Deuteronomy 28:7

The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

Some of us are in the midst of a really trying time. They might come out against us one way, but they're going to flee before us seven ways.

8) Deuteronomy 3:22

You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.

If you are feeling harassed or feeling intimidated, or bullied, do not fear them. Do not fear

the report for the Lord your God is the One fighting for you.

9) Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

God is with us. Sometimes the devil tries to lie, deceive and sow seeds of fear and doubt and unbelief. We've got to take captive those thoughts and make them obedient to Jesus.

Choose not to live in fear. If you believe in the lies, you will empower the liar.

Refuse to empower demonic activity in your life.

How you’re going to dismantle it is to refute and cut out the lies of the enemies; and root yourself in the Word of God.

10) 2 Chronicles 20:15

And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

God is for you. God is with you.

Prayer - Uproot the evil altar of delay

Prayer

Heavenly Father and righteous Judge,

Holy is Your name, it is greatly to be praised; Heavenly Father, by the Blood of Jesus, I step into the court of heaven, the heavenly court, where every invisible entity is judged in Jesus’ Name.

Heavenly Father, I thank You that it is written in Psalm 27:6 that now my head will be lifted above my enemies. Lord, I declare and decree that, as I'm in the court of heaven, my head will be lifted supernaturally above my enemies, including over the evil altar of delay.

No more delay, no more postponements in my life, in Jesus’ Mighty Name.

Heavenly Father, righteous Judge,

I repent of every transgression, every iniquity, and every open door in my life or my bloodline that the enemy has been using as a legal stronghold to delay my God-given destiny and the fulfillment of the promise of God in my life.

Lord, I'm asking that the Blood of Jesus speak for me in the court of heaven and silence the voice of the accuser.

Lord, now that the Blood of Jesus has silenced the voice of the accuser, cleanse me, and make me clean.

I ask now, in the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ, that the court of heaven issue a warrant of arrest or a decree of arrest over the evil order of delay and the spirit behind it over my life.

Every familiar spirit behind every delay in my life must now be arrested in the Mighty Name of Yeshua Jesus.

Heavenly Father, righteous Judge,

I thank you. I appeal to the court of heaven for the divine restraining order in my life to be released against this evil altar of delay.

I will not be delayed in the Mighty Name of my Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Lord, I appeal to the court of heaven to issue a supernatural spirit of speed.

I pray, Lord, that You release the anointing for speed - the quickening anointing - that all that has been delayed will be supernaturally quickened into the moment called “now” for my life, in Jesus' name.

What I've been waiting on for years, Lord, let it now be quickened into manifestation by the power of God because the devil and his demonic cohorts have been arrested by the superior court of heaven, in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Lord for giving me a verdict of deliverance from my adversary. Thank You Lord for avenging me of my adversary that has been coming against the manifestation of all that God ordained for my life and ministry, in Jesus’ Name, I pray.

I thank You Lord for the victory. I thank You Lord that these demonic altars, these familiar spirits of delay have now been broken over my life.

In the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ, I'm now expecting nothing but acceleration. Supernatural acceleration is surrounding me now. The grace for speed is coming upon my head in the Mighty Name of my Lord Jesus Christ.

The grace for speed is coming upon my projects that have been delayed; they have been quickened right now, in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ.

God, I thank You that the anointing for speed is coming upon my bank accounts, my investments and my job, in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ, that my rising will be seen by many; and it will be supernaturally fast because You are giving me a recompense against the season of delay that the enemy ushered against me, in the Mighty Name of my Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Mighty Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I declare that that evil author of delay has broken. It's collapsing now. I am delivered from it by the power of the Holy Spirit right now.

In the Mighty Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, no more delays, no more postponements. The spirit of speed has been released on my life by the power of the Holy Ghost.

The Word of the Lord in my life must now come to pass, in Jesus’ Name.

Ezekiel 12:28 is my portion. (Therefore, say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “None of My words will be postponed any more, but the word which I speak will be done,” says the Lord God.’)

In Jesus’ name, the spirit of delay is broken over my life; Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord.

May there be a quickening anointing upon my life to quicken what the Lord has ordained for my life and ministry by the Spirit of the Living God, in Jesus’ mighty name.

I believe God has broken the spirit of delay and cut off the demonic cycles over my life.

How to win in the battlefield of our mind

Salient points:

  • One of the greatest battles ahead for God's people is the battle for the mind
  • To move in complete victory, we must transform our minds to think the way God thinks
  • God wants us to walk with wisdom and understanding, and in faith - not fear and confusion
  • Two keys to overcome - meditate on the Word and take every thought captive
  • God is raising up the prophetic people
  • It’s harvest time

Notes from Robert Heidler’s sharing on May 31, 2023 (Glory Zion International Church)

The world has entered a very stormy season… the world is falling apart… and we’re wondering if we're the last hours before Jesus returns. Many people are confused, filled with fear.

But God does not want His people to walk in fear and confusion.

He wants us to walk with wisdom and understanding, and most of all, He wants us to walk in faith.

To move forward in complete victory, we must transform our minds to think the way God thinks.

We must adopt His thoughts for today rather than our own, as one of the greatest coming wars will take place in the battlefield of the mind.

For every process of moving into a new dimension, change is necessary. Mindsets have to be altered. Old patterns must make way for new ones. And ultimately, we must learn to think differently. Now, to gain victory in the mind war, we need to understand mindsets.

In Romans 1:14-16 the Bible categorises the human race into three basic mindsets

  1. Barbaric

  2. Greek

  3. Hebrew/Biblical

God promises if you resist the devil, he will flee from you. But if your life is dominated by fear, you are being held captive by a barbarian warlord named Satan. Fear is Satan's tool. It's the opposite of faith. God does not want you to live in fear. He wants you to know a loving Heavenly Heavenly Father who cares for you.

God confounds the mind to test the heart. He will deliberately do things that our minds don't understand to see where our hearts are.

Romans 12 calls us not to be conformed to the world, don't be pressed into the world's mould, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind.

Faith works through love. Know the living God and learn to walk by faith in him.

It's a totally different way of operating and it seems foolish to the world, to the barbarian.

The Hebrew mindset says I will trust and not be afraid… I will trust in the Lord and not lean on my own understanding.

The Hebrew mindset says you get ahead in life by learning to walk in God's favour… you gain wisdom and direction from God.

God is working to restore a Hebrew mindset in his Church. One of the greatest battles ahead for God's people is the battle for the mind.

God wants our minds to be transformed. He doesn't want us to walk in fear. He doesn't want us to walk in pride. He wants us to walk in faith.

God says don't let the world press you into its mould. God wants to set you free from the world's domination and free from fear.

God wants us to draw close to Him to learn to hear His voice, to walk in His ways.

To win the mind war, there are two keys:

1) Meditate on the word. That means you need to know the word.

2) Discipline the mind to take every thought captive.

How do you meditate on the Word? Well, the word meditate literally means to chew on something. A cow will go out and eat some grass, but then she'll sit down and spend the day just chewing it over and over and over again.

And that's what God wants us to do with the Bible.God wants us to take it in and think about it. Chew on it throughout the day. Ponder it. Saturate your mind with it.

Joshua 1 says if you meditate on the Word daily, you will be successful in everything you do. If you meditate on God's Word, the Holy Spirit will speak to you. The result is your mind will be transformed.

Not only do we need to meditate on the Word, but we also need to take our thoughts captive.

See, not every thought that pops into our mind is from ourselves. Satan is able to plant thoughts in our mind, and those thoughts are not usually aligned with God's truth.

So we need to make it a habit to examine our thoughts to see if what we were thinking is really from God. Many people are slaves to a barbarian mindset and they don't even know it. So ask yourself, what am I thinking?

Living in faith looks at the future, and says surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.

We have a good Father, a Good Shepherd who's watching out for us.

If you've been walking under a barbarian mindset, there’s good news for you. You can repent.

You can just say, Lord, I see I've been living in fear. I've been having a barbarian mindset. Right now. I choose to renounce that. I'm going to choose to trust You and not be afraid.

There will be times in the days ahead when your mind will not know the way. The only way to move forward will be to know by the Spirit you need to stop and take your thoughts captive.

If you have been walking in a Greek mindset, there’s good news for you. You can repent. You can change. You can learn to walk in the spirit. God wants you to walk with the mind of Christ. You can transform your mind to think the way God thinks.

God doesn't want us to have a Greek or a Barbarian mindset. He doesn't want his people to live in fear.

He's calling us to a biblical mindset. He wants us to walk in faith, knowing that your God is in control.

That is what God is doing in the Church today. God is raising up the prophetic people who know His voice, who walk in His ways.

God is raising up a people who will not be pressed into the mould of the world, who will not be filled with fear and confusion by the storms that are raging around us, who walk in the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.

He wants us to be a people who do the works of Jesus and will bring in a great harvest in the earth. God is preparing the world for harvest.

So if you have been captured by fear, fill your mind with God's word. Stand on God's promises. Take every thought captive. Be willing to repent, be willing to walk in faith because God wants you to know - it's harvest time.

What it means to be 'Royal Priesthood'? How to operate in a higher level of authority?

Salient points:

  • The Melchizedekian priesthood is a combination of the offices of a king and a priest
  • It is the highest authority of the believer
  • This anointing is not something that can be claimed by faith
  • We need to be yielded to God and allow Him to mould and transform us to be a Melchizedekian priest
  • We have to grow up (mature) into the image of Christ to bear that kind of authority and power
  • God is preparing us for His end-time move and harvest

Notes from Ps Yang Tuck Yoong’s sermon on July 3, 2022 (Cornerstone Community Church Singapore)

One of the privileges a priest has is he gets to come close to God.

When the Apostle Peter gave us a vision of what the church is called to be, he said, you are a “royal priesthood”. You're not just any priesthood you're a royal priesthood.

We have to grow into this and we have to have a revelation of what entails a priesthood.

One of the greatest revelations that's going to be released upon the church in the last days is the revelation of the Melchizedekian priesthood – highest authority of the believer on planet earth. It's a combination of both the priestly anointing and the kingly ministry.

God is going to bring these two key ministries together in the last days. There's going to be a marriage of the offices of the priests and the king, and when this happens, we're going to see cataclysmic results.

Pray that God will do something in our hearts and that we will not be dull of hearing today. The dullness of the Hebrew believers prevented one of the greatest revelations from being released to the Body of Christ. When we don't understand a revelation, when it's released, Satan comes and he steals the word.

Satan will fight tooth and nail to prevent the church from receiving this revelation (Melchizedekian priesthood), so we must contend for this.

This is one of the most powerful revelations that awaits the church in these last days.

This obscure King Melchizedek is mentioned in three portions of scripture in the bible:

  1. Genesis 14 - when Abraham meets him and gives a tithe to him;
  2. Psalm 110:4 - speaking of the Messiah it says the Lord has sworn and will not relent; You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek; and
  3. Hebrews 7 - where the writer explains a few things about this very mysterious person.

*Melchizedekian priesthood > Levitical priesthood

Hebrews 7:1-3:
“For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham as he returned from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, and Abraham gave him a tenth of all [the spoil]. He is, first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then he is also king of Salem, which means king of peace. Without [[a]any record of] father or mother, nor ancestral line, without [any record of] beginning of days (birth) nor ending of life (death), but having been made like the Son of God, he remains a priest without interruption and without successor.

Historically, Melchizedek was the king of Salem, the original ancient name for Jerusalem.
Not only was Melchizedek a king, he was also a priest.

This is important because our priesthood in the new covenant is not after the order of Levi, but after the order of Melchizedek. In other words, in the New Testament, God takes the functions of a priest and marries it to the kingly office, making us kings and priests.

When the bible talks about us being kings and priests, it's a vision God is offering to everyone.

It’s not an automatic thing. It has to be qualified. You have to qualify for it.

Old Testament: the priesthood went to the tribe of Levi, the scepter (the rulership) went to the tribe of Judah.

Jesus is not from the tribe of Levi. He's from the tribe of Judah, coming from a long line of kings.

This is the will of God: He has made us kings and priests (Melchizedekian priesthood).

It involves a process of transformation. This is not something we claim it by faith.

You've got to be moulded and shaped by God for your destiny.

Melchizedek was a king and a priest not by genealogy but by election. His ministry continued into eternity and did not consummate at his death. He remains a priest forever.

Psalm 110: 1-4
The Lord (Father) says to my Lord (the Messiah, His Son), “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet [subjugating them into complete submission].
The Lord will send the scepter of Your strength from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
Your people will offer themselves willingly [to participate in Your battle] in the day of Your power; In the splendor of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, Your young men are to You as the dew.
The Lord has sworn [an oath] and will not change His mind: “[a]You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Psalm 110 was a David, who was not just a great king, but also a great prophet.

The position of the Melchizedekian priesthood - they sit in heavenly places at the Lord's right hand, which is a place of “supreme power”, not just any kind of power. The Melchizedekian priesthood is a reigning priesthood that rules from heaven, and not from earth. It is the highest place of authority for the believer. Whatever we have witnessed in the past is going to be insignificant in comparison to what is coming.

What we have right now is so limited in its capacity. When the Lord said the works that I do, greater works shall you do.

But why aren't we seeing this yet?

It's because we are operating in an authority that is far inferior to the alternative that's presented to us in Scripture. Although it's been given to us, we are not operating in it, and the reason for that is because that kind of authority and power can only be given to a mature people.

Too many things come out from our mouths, too many things come out from our hearts, that if we are given this kind of authority, the results would be catastrophic. Like James and John, we all have the tendency to call fire at the slightest provocation.

So, we have to grow up into the image of Christ to bear that kind of authority and power, and grow into the mantle that the Lord has promised to the Church.

Ask the Holy Spirit to fast-track you to growth, because we don't have much time left. The Glory is coming.

*Jesus is returning for a Bride without spot and wrinkle.*

He's returning for a beautiful Bride with the Melchizedekian priesthood and garments on her.

We need to grow up, we need to mature.

Start thinking about your vocation - your true vocation, which is a priest unto the Lord.

You must function in the office of a priest.

How do you do that? The first thing you got to do is to stand before God every morning and give Him praise and thanksgiving.

*The first duty of the priest is to offer praise to Him, the sacrifice of praise.*

Rev 3:21
He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God], I will grant to him [the privilege] to sit beside Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down beside My Father on His throne

Jesus wasn't referring to after we have died. He's offering this to anyone who will overcome in this life and reign in his life - right now. Right now, we can be seated in heavenly thrones and walk with great authority in this lifetime.

We’re operating at a level so far short of His true glory. We cannot fully represent Him until He brings us up higher to that place of glory.

Psalm 110:2: There is an authority and power that is coming to the church where the enemy will always be under our feet.

This is the Lord’s desire, the expressed will of the Father for His Church of Jesus Christ - the Ecclesia, the ruling governing authority on this planet.

Psalm 110:3: When this mantle is poured out upon the Church, the hearts of the Christians will rise in an unprecedented faith and they will be willing. The day is coming when the Church is going to rise up, they're not going to enter into battle with fear, they're going to rise up with a willing heart.

The Melchizedekian church is going to be a holy church, with a holy aura. Our garments will be the garments of warfare - the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, girding the loins with truth, wearing the sandals of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the sword of the spirit. That bridal gown is the Armor of God - it's devastatingly powerful.

Psalm 110:4 - Jesus is not just king over the church, He's king over the whole earth.

A priest carries a sensor, a king wields a scepter. The scepter symbolises authority, the sensor symbolises worship. One releases power, one releases fragrance, and we need both.

1 Peter 2:9:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

That word royal makes all the difference - we're not just a priesthood of believers, we are a royal priesthood. One of the functions of the priest is to proclaim praise, if you're not proclaiming the praises of him who called you out of darkness into light every day, then I question your role as your understanding of a praise, and I question your faithfulness in being a priest.

As a royal priesthood, we're called to proclaim the superiority of God over darkness every day.

The Lord's prayer has both kingly elements and priestly elements.

God is preparing His church for this end-time harvest. He is also preparing the church for the coming power and authority.

How to get the gift to understand the times and seasons?

Salient points:

  • Understanding the times and seasons gives us wisdom and great success in everything we do
  • We need to ask God for the Issachar anointing to align with God's timing
  • God desires to give us this anointing, we need to receive it by faith

Notes from Ps Robert Heidler teaching on April 23, 2023 (Glory of Zion International)

Four steps to get an Issachar anointing?

  1. Align with God’s timing
  2. Pursue the prophetic
  3. Understand the time in the light of eternity
  4. Ask God for it

God wants you to ask Him for the Issachar anointing… and receive it by faith

1 Chronicles 12:22-32 (AMP):
22 For day by day men kept coming to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.23 These are the numbers of the [armed] units equipped for war who came to David at Hebron to turn [over] the kingdom of Saul to him, in accordance with the word of the Lord. 24 Those of the tribe of Judah who carried shield and spear were 6,800, armed for war; 25 of the tribe of Simeon, brave warriors, 7,100; 26 of the tribe of Levi, 4,600. 27 Jehoiada was the leader of [the house of] Aaron, and with him were 3,700, 28 and Zadok, a courageous young man, and twenty-two captains from his father’s house. 29 Of the tribe of Benjamin, the relatives of [King] Saul, 3,000; for until now the majority of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul. 30 Of the tribe of Ephraim, 20,800, courageous men, famous in their fathers’ houses. 31 Of the half-tribe of Manasseh, 18,000, who were designated by name to come and make David king. 32 Of the tribe of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, two hundred chiefs; and all their relatives were at their command

When David was assembling his army, many tribes came to help him. But only the tribe of Issachar “understood the times and knew what Israel should do”.

Issachar was a prophetic tribe.

God wants us to be like the tribe of Issachar.

God wants to raise up a prophetic people who understand the times.

If you can discern the times you are in, you can walk in wisdom and have great success in everything you do.

Having the Issachar anointing means you see how God works through time…
You see how you fit into time…
You begin to gain an understanding of God’s purpose for your life…
You see why God is moving you through various times and seasons…

How to progress from crossover to conquest? What are keys to possessing the promise?

Salient points:
  • God has a personal “Promised Land” for each of us
  • If you want to receive God's blessing, you have to align with His plan and will
  • Tough times are used by God to test us to teach us to trust Him; to persevere and grow in Him
  • The foundation for faith is to know God’s will and God’s word
  • A big part of possessing is overcoming your fear of conflict
  • Do the ONE THING that God asks you to do - His strategy always work
  • Keep pressing in to the promise, don't give up
  • Always remember God's faithfulness in the past and be strengthened for the future

Notes from Ps Robert Heidler teaching on April 16, 2023 (Glory of Zion International)

After leaving Egypt, Israel found themselves in the wilderness - it certainly didn’t look like a land flowing with milk and honey that the Lord promised them.

~ The wilderness was a place of testing. The point of the testing was to teach them to trust God. It was essential that they learned to walk by faith." ~

God’s goal for His people is always to bring them into His blessing - “to serve Him with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things” (Deut 28:47)

God has a personal “Promised Land” for each of us. God has a goal, a call and a destiny for each of our lives that includes the fulfillment of every promise He has made.

But it is sometimes hard to enter God’s blessing.

How do we conquer the spiritual forces set against us, and enter into the blessings God has promised?

Israel’s experience at Gilgal gives the answer.

To enter the land, Israel had to cross the Jordan River. But the river was at flood stage, a seemingly impassable barrier. But Joshua directed the priests carrying the ark to move forward. As soon as the priests put their feet in the river, the water stopped flowing. While the priests stood in the middle of the riverbed, Israel passed through on dry ground - an incredible miracle.

While the priests were standing in the middle of the river, God told Israel to take 12 rocks from the river bed. They were to carry the rocks to a place called Gilgal and build a memorial there. (Joshua 3-4)

The first thing they did at Gilgal was CIRCUMCISION. (Joshua 5)

Circumcision was the sign of their covenant with God. It meant they belonged to God.

Circumcision was not pleasant. It was not just physically painful, it left them weak and vulnerable (while they were in the land of the giants).

Circumcision meant dying to their own strength. They became vulnerable and totally dependent on God.

To enter the promise, you need to cut off all confidence in your own ability, and put ALL your hope in HIM.

The result of the circumcision - “Egypt” was finally broken off. Egypt had been about pride and self-sufficiency.

God doesn’t want you to take Egypt with you into your promised land. He wants to cut off your pride and self-sufficiency, and learn to trust in Him. He wants you to see that even when you are weak, He can be your strength.

Passover not only got Israel out of Egypt. It brought them into the promised land.

~ Passover brings you into a transition. It takes you a step close to blessing. ~

God’s promises always come by the blood of our Passover Lamb.

The good news is, they had Passover in the land, but the bad news is, they had to get circumcised.

One result of Passover is Israel moving into a new level of provision.

Israel could finally enjoy the fruit of the promised land but it was also an uncomfortable situation.

When the promised provision came, the manna stopped. Suddenly after 40 years, the manna stopped coming.

Joshua learnt entering the promise meant:

  1. The strength of past season was ending
  2. The supply of the past season was ending
  3. Need to trust God to show them how to walk in the new supply
  4. The self-reliance of the past season was ending. Need to learn to follow the King

Then they had a visitation from the Lord. It was a good experience but also a frightening one. (Joshua 5:13-14: And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?”)

God is NOT on your side. God is not here to help you accomplish “your” agenda.

God says: I’m not here to align with you. But if you want to receive My blessing, you can align with Me.

Always know: He’s the One in charge.

Entering the promise requires unquestioning obedience

Joshua 1:7-8:
Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

KEYS TO POSSESSING THE PROMISE

#Key 1: Know the promise

Joshua knew God had given the land of Canaan to Israel (Numbers 33:53).

You need to know what God has promised you. God says He had granted you everything pertaining to life and godliness (II Peter 1:3). You can’t claim a blessing you don’t know God has offered.

So you need to know what God has said. (Eg if you need healing Exodus 23:25-26, Psalm 107:19-21, Psalm 103:2-5, James 5:14-16 are promises for you to claim)

The foundation for faith is to know God’s will and God’s word.

#Key 2: Be ready for conflict.

When you are trusting God to fulfil a promise, you need to recognise that there are forces at work to oppose God’s will. To possess what God wants to give you, you will have to engage in warfare (that’s what Joshua discovered).

God has given us many promises. He wants us to experience them all. But we have an enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy.

Before we can experience the blessing, we must learn to resist the enemy.

When you try to possess the promises, you often find yourself confronting a spiritual enemy.

There are demon spirits assigned to carry out Satan’s plan to steal, kill and destroy what God loves. For instance, there are spirits of poverty, spirits of infirmity, spirits of unbelief, spirits of oppression.

If an enemy spirit is camped out on your promised inheritance, you can’t possess the promise without confronting that spirit.

You drive out the enemy with the weapon of God’s word. That’s how Jesus drove back the devil (Mat 4:1-11).

Many people never receive what God promised because they’re fearful of confronting the devil.

A big part of possessing is overcoming your fear of conflict.

God promised Israel the land, but they MUST be strong and courageous to take it. Likewise, you must be strong and courageous enough to deal with every enemy you encounter and press through into victory. If you turn back when you encounter opposition, you will never receive the promise.

#Key 3: Ask for God’s strategy, and obey Him.

It looked like there was no way that Israel could conquer Jericho, a fortress city. But God had a strategy. As Israel confronted what seemed like an impossible situation, God gave Joshua an assignment: God told him to have Israel go out and march around the city for 7 days, and on the 7th day to shout and blow the shofars.

It didn’t make any sense, but Israel obeyed.

It was a major test of faith. But when they blew the shofars, the walls of Jericho crumbled and Israel rushed in and conquered Jericho.

God gave Israel an assignment that seemed very strange. But obedience brought breakthrough.

Do the ONE THING that God asks you to do. It may seem silly, and totally irrelevant. But if you do it, you will see amazing breakthroughs.

#Key 4: Be willing to persevere until you win.

In Joshua 10, during a prolonged battle, Joshua asked God to make the sun stand still in the sky as he needed more time to defeat the enemy. And God answered his prayer and gave Joshua 12 more hours of daylight to finally defeat the enemy.

That was not an easy battle - it tested Israel’s endurance. It meant pressing in with every ounce of strength but they persevered and won.

Many times, a faith-battle is not easy. When you are “pressing in” to a promise, there are many times you grow weary of the battle and want to stop.

God’s word to you is DON’T STOP. If you keep going, you will WIN.

#Key 5: Don’t stop short.

God gave Joshua an interesting promise - every place Israel planted their feet on would be theirs. They got to choose how much of the land they received. If they chose to lay claim to a little of the land, that’s all they would get. But if they were willing to step out in faith to claim it call, they could have it.

Israel had to engage in long hard battles, their faith was tested, they went to the limits of their strength and kept going. But when they were done, the land was theirs. They possessed what God had promised.

What kept them going? The answer is Gilgal.

They kept going back to Gilgal:

  • After the battles of Jericho and Ai (Joshua 10:6-7)
  • After the all night and all day battle to defeat the Amorites (Joshua 10:15)
  • After defeating the kings of south (Joshua 10:43)
  • After defeating the alliance of northern kings (Joshua 14:6)

Summary

So, when you have been through a battle, when you feel weak… go back to “Gilgal”.

Remember what God has done for you in the past and be strengthened to fight again.

Remember what God has done and gain faith for the future.

You only get what you plant your feet on, and that means confronting every enemy that has camped out on your land.

So, determine to possess the promise. Don’t stop walking until you have it all.

ADDITIONAL WORD

*Chuck Pierce: It’s one thing to go and press into the promise God has given you, it’s another to conquest in that promise. So, once you get in, you cannot let the “invisible thing” that appears to be obstructing you, stop you.

(In the book of Joshua) Jericho was the invisible thing that appears impenetrable. When the Israelites sought the Lord on what to do, the Lord gave them the instruction to march around the walls, and on the 7th day, blow the shofar and shout. What appeared invisible fell.

So, God always has a strategy for you for what you’re up against.
